Where were you born?

I was born in Mexico City.

Where do you live?

I have just returned to Barcelona after living in London.

Where do you work?

I worked at McLaren Automotive Ltd. until I left earlier this year looking for new projects.

How has your professional career been like?

I started in Barcelona developing my final degree project at Ros Roca S.A. My career continued in the United States, starting in New York at Sam Tell Co. as a Construction Support and designing restaurants and industrial kitchens in Manhattan.

Later, also in the United States, I moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan to the Amstore company where I started as Technical Support and soon after as a Designer, developing display furniture for Fortune 500 clients. I carried out a design manufactured in China and the United States that it is now in more than three thousand stores around the country.

Upon returning to Barcelona, I joined an engineering company for the automotive industry as Junior Project Manager for body development for the McLaren client. From there the opportunity arose for me to work at the same McLaren located in Woking, UK where I started as a Packaging Engineer and then got a promotion as Senior Logistics Engineer doing my bit in big projects like in the following cars: Senna, Senna GTR , Speedtail and Elva. In 2019 McLaren nominated me for an award in Autocar of 'Rising Female Stars in the Automotive industry'. Now I am looking forward to taking the next step in my professional career.

What is design for you?

For me, design is a way to express complex cases in a simple and intuitive way for all possible levels in a company.

Who inspires you professionally speaking?

I have been lucky to have professionally come across many exceptional people and great mentors, but there are three people that have left a mark on me the most: my father, from whom I acquired my ambition and perseverance, and two McLaren professionals who have inspired me to fight against the barriers that women face, especially in the automotive sector. Helen Coombes (Head of Business Transformation & Strategy) respected by all who interact with her, and Sharmila Govender (Ex Logistics Director) for her ability to know how to surround herself with a solid and competent team. It is admirable to reach that level in an industry dominated by men and especially from the operations side. I consider both of them to be an inspiration for any female figure within this professional field.

How would you define your time at Elisava?

Elisava helped me understand the basics of engineering and create useful and attractive products, regardless of the sector.

What is the thing that has marked you the most of everything you learned in Elisava?

The tools to organize my thinking and develop a strategic mind as well as the ability to express these thoughts and concepts in an attractive and clear way.

A piece of advice

If you do not ask, the answer will always be ‘no’.

A challenge for the future

Finding a job in operations where I can continue to apply my most strategic side and become an inspiration for women who face the difficulties imposed by society in the professional field.
