You were born in
Barcelona.
You live in
New York.
You work at
I recently co-founded my design studio, LASEU Studio. We make interiors and furniture.
About your professional career
When I finished my Degree I moved to London, where I had the opportunity to do a furniture course at Central Saint Martins. I found a job at Michael Sodeu Partnership, a rather small but relevant studio in London that gave me the opportunity to do furniture and interior design.
After two years I moved to New York, where I have been living for 7 years now. I found a job as a furniture designer at Yabu Pushelberg, a very large and renowned interior and furniture studio in the United States. After 3 years with them making furniture I wanted to go back to making interiors and they gave me the opportunity within the same company to change departments. After 6 and a half years at Yabu Pushelberg I decided to quit that job and start working on my own.
What is design for you
Everything around us. Someone has thought of every detail of every object, space or application we use every day in our daily lives. Sometimes with more or less success.
Who inspires you professionally
On the level of creativity, I find a lot of inspiration in art, especially in sculpture. The volumetric explorations and the proportions of certain artists inspire me a lot, especially in designing furniture. On the level of professional ethics, my family. They are hard-working people and have managed to transmit a good work ethic to me.
How would you define your time at Elisava
Frantic. I tried to combine too many things at the same time and lived far from Barcelona with what I spent many hours on the train.
What has marked you the most about all you learnt at Elisava
Versatility. The fact of having learned graphic design, interiors and product. Design is something global and I try to apply all that knowledge in everything I do.
A good advice
Try to identify the knowledge you lack or can improve and do something about it.
A challenge for the future
Maintain and make grow my studio.
