Where were you born?

Cadiz, Andalusia.

Where do you live?

Barcelona, Catalonia.

Where do you work?

My activity is very divided: on the one hand I work as a freelance product and furniture design consultant for companies and studios in the sector. I am also the photographer in the communication studio Studio Yolanda Aranda and collaborating teacher at Elisava and Escola Massana. All together forms a flexible, malleable and a little bit stressful cocktail, but that gives me life.

What has been your professional career?

After studying Industrial Design and completing a Master's Degree in Product Design, I joined BD Barcelona's R&D team, where I delved into the world of furniture. After three years there, I started to collaborate externally with designers, such as Isaac Piñeiro, and companies, such as Apparatu, Carmenes or Gesab. I also decided to open the professional spectrum to other fields such as product, interior and lifestyle photography and, since 2018, I have the opportunity to train future designers. Recently, taking advantage of the strange pandemic year, I have taken a Master in Project Management.

What is design to you?

A process of exploration and refinement of ideas that seeks to solve a given problem (and all those subsidiary problems you encounter along the way). If it also manages to improve people's quality of life, optimize processes and resources or contribute to a circular society, I think we could call it good design.

Who inspires you professionally speaking?

Studies such as Industrial Facility, Diez Office or SPACE10. In fact, anyone who is able to come up with coherent, long-lasting solutions without the need for fuss.

How would you define your time at Elisava?

A vital and professional turning point. My memories of my arrival in Barcelona are usually linked to the school and the people I met there. Almost everything that came after has always been conditioned by that frenetic year.

What has left a mark on you the most of everything you learned at Elisava?

o be consistent in the design decisions I make. Always questioning, observing a lot, asking and investigating what I don't know.

Any advice

Learn and deepen in what you do and, when the time comes, do not stagnate and jump to something else. As designers, we can face a multitude of challenges and tackle different sectors, so when you feel that you have stopped learning wherever you work, change. I would also recommend training in complementary disciplines that strengthen your profile as a designer and make it unique: photography, illustration, music, sculpture, electronics, programming, management, sociology…

A future challenge

Continue to grow as a professional, provide sustainable solutions, continue to share knowledge and enjoy the journey.
