Pluma is a research project led by Elisava Alumni from the Master in Industrial Design Engineering, Marta Gomez de Gispert, Laura Lorenzo and Valentina Masallera, focused on finding a solution to the major environmental problem of food waste.

The team seeks to reuse the material properties of the waste generated by the fishing industry and encourage substitution in favour of the Waste Law that bans single-use plastics. Pluma is a new water-resistant material that has been materialised in three product transport elements: paper, trays and transport boxes.

INFOPACK magazine, a benchmark in the packaging sector, has selected Pluma for an extensive article praising the innovation represented by this waterproof and environmentally friendly material.

In addition, Pluma will also be exhibited at the prestigious Interpack fair in Düsseldorf, one of the most important fairs in the packaging sector worldwide.

Project tutored by PhD Jessica Fernández.
