We invite you to the presentation event of the documentary for the Trustto Team x Open Arms 2023 project, which thoroughly documents the entire process of designing and developing the maritime rescue device. This event will occur in the Aleix Carrió Room on Tuesday, January 23rd at 7:00 PM.
Trustto Team x Open Arms 2023 project emerged as a response to the prolonged humanitarian crisis affecting the Mediterranean Sea for years. It is a crisis that has claimed the lives of thousands of vulnerable individuals, abandoned by authorities, and left adrift while fleeing from armed conflicts, persecution, or other forms of structural violence.
In the previous edition of this project, our team of engineers collaborated with Open Arms to develop a reusable flotation device for drifting vessels. In the 2023 edition, the Trustto team aimed to reduce response times in rescue situations further, giving rise to PHAROS.
PHAROS is an electric-powered vessel that utilizes foil technology and machine learning to increase the speed of approaching rescue areas and efficiently locate drifting vessels. This technological advancement promises to be a crucial factor in reducing rescue times by enabling the precise identification of vessels before the arrival of Open Arms.
Open Arms is a non-governmental and non-profit humanitarian organization with a noble mission: to protect the lives of all individuals attempting to reach Europe through the Mediterranean Sea. Their tireless work for humanity is a fundamental part of the realization of this project.
